How Custom Packaging Designs Come To Life With Box Prototyping

You have your new product, and now you need a box that fits your product. How do you go about getting a custom box?

Step-by-Step process of creating a custom box prototype

Let’s take you step by step through the process of prototyping or structural engineering a box:

  • The client either measures their product or preferably supplies a product sample so we can accurately create the box to fit the product’s dimensions (length x width x depth).
  • Our packaging engineers will help pick out the right style of box and features necessary for strength, aesthetics, and function.
  • The client will receive a blank prototype box so they can insert the product and ensure that it fits perfectly.
  • If adjustments are made, additional prototypes may be necessary. Once approved, the client will receive the final electronic CAD file, which they can place their design on top of.
  • A digitally printed prototype is made, which includes client artwork (please note that standard prototypes do not include special finishing effects like embossing, foiling, lamination, or specialty coatings).
