The Luxury Appeal of Ferrero Rocher’s Packaging Design
Products: Ferrero Rocher is known for its golden wrappers and paper cups. Their offerings include the single-wrapped candy that is a hazelnut dipped in a chocolate filling and covered in crispy wafers and hazelnut pieces and a line of premium chocolates.
The box we are reviewing is from their new line of chocolate bars. There are several varieties – the one I bought in a European duty-free store was milk chocolate with hazelnut filling and hazelnut pieces. I was drawn to it because I had not seen Ferrero Rocher sold in the US in bars and I wanted to try it in a different format.
Type of box: Ferrero Rocher used a straight-line box to hold the three individually wrapped chocolate tablets. For security purposes, the bottom of the box is glued.
How Packaging Enhances the Ferrero Rocher Brand Image
Printing & embellishments: This is where Ferrero Rocher shines. The carton has a luxurious appearance and a luxurious feel due to its textured finishes. The printing was their standard brown background with a lighter tan for the text with a dull coating that keeps the same look as other Ferrero Rocher products. The front of the package was metallic gold foiled with a texture down the sides. Wow! They also used embossing in key places like their name and the image of the chocolate and hazelnuts at the bottom of the carton.

Sustainability: The package mentions Ferrero Rocher is committed to sourcing 100% sustainable cocoa.
The Intense Taste Experience Promised by Ferrero Rocher’s Messaging
Messaging: The box says it all: “Discover all the new indulgent varieties made with fine and carefully sourced ingredients, for a refined and chocolaty intense taste experience”. Other wording includes “the golden experience” in reference to its gold wrapper as well as luxury positioning. The package clearly details what is inside as well as shows photos of the chocolate. The ingredient list is printed in eight languages which represents the Ferrero Rocher marketing reach.
A well-done package that remains in line with the Ferrero Rocher product line and clearly worked as I bought it!
